Costing about $10 million to assemble, the all-white, cubic structure now holds as much as four hundred people. Also often known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, this Istanbul site is in style with vacationers but nonetheless serves as a gathering place for worshipers. The mosque was built between 1609 and 1616 and earned its "Blue" nickname because of the hand-painted blue tiles that adorn its interior walls.
